Coach Emmanuel Siwale Targets Maximum Points Against Nkana
ZESCO United head coach Emmanuel Siwale has made it clear that his side is targeting nothing less than victory when they face Nkana FC tomorrow at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
Speaking ahead of the 15:00 hours fixture, Siwale described the match as a tough encounter but stressed that ZESCO United’s objective remains clear as they push to improve their chances of qualifying for this year’s ABSA Cup.
“As ZESCO United, we want the three points, nothing else,” said Siwale.
The coach also highlighted the importance of big games, noting that the magnitude of the fixture can play a key role in motivating the players.
“Sometimes our job becomes easier because of the magnitude of the game. Even when players want to do their best, such matches motivate them even more,” he added.
ZESCO United currently sits eighth on the MTN Super League table with 19 points, while Nkana FC are in the relegation zone with 10 points.
However, Siwale insisted that league positions and statistics will have no bearing on the outcome of the match.
“What matters tomorrow is getting maximum points. Statistics will not be on the pitch. It will be a different day and a different game, and our focus is on the three points,” he said.
ZESCO United head into the match following a goalless draw against Prison Leopards before the league recess. Siwale has since urged supporters to turn up in numbers and rally behind the team.
“I know the league was on recess, and I am sure the fans have recruited more fans during this period. We expect a strong turnout tomorrow,” he said.
The clash promises to be an intense contest as ZESCO United look to return to winning ways.
