Morocco have maintained their position as Africa’s top-ranked national football team, according to the latest FIFA World Rankings released for October 2025. The Atlas Lions are ranked 12th globally, continuing their dominance on the continent after an impressive run in recent international competitions.

Senegal follow closely in second place (18th in the world), while Egypt have climbed to third in Africa (32nd globally), showing steady improvement ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Algeria and Nigeria complete the top five, ranked 35th and 41st in the world respectively.

Defending African champions Ivory Coast are sixth (42nd globally), just ahead of Tunisia (43rd) and Mali (53rd). Cameroon and South Africa round out the top ten at 54th and 59th in the world respectively.

Further down the list, DR Congo (60th), Burkina Faso (63rd), Cape Verde (71st), and Ghana (73rd) make up the chasing pack, while Gabon (77th), Guinea (80th), and Uganda (83rd) continue to hover in mid-table on the continental standings.

Zambia are ranked 18th in Africa and 87th globally, slightly behind Uganda but ahead of Angola (89th) and Benin (92nd).

The new rankings reflect recent performances in World Cup qualifiers and international friendlies, with several African teams showing upward movement as they fine-tune preparations for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Morocco’s consistency at the top highlights their sustained progress since the 2022 FIFA World Cup, while Zambia’s position signals a need for stronger results in forthcoming fixtures to climb further up both the continental and global charts.
