No Feed, No Broadcast – TopStar Speaks Out

TopStar Communications Company Limited has moved to clarify its position regarding the halted broadcast of the MTN Super League, stating that it remains committed to airing the matches once contractual issues are resolved.
In a press statement issued in Lusaka on March 2, 2026, the company said it was responding to concerns raised during the recent ABSA Cup launch involving the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) and the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts.
TopStar explained that under its agreement with the Zambia Premier League (ZPL), it only distributes a production feed supplied by the league’s contracted production houses.
“In the contract between Zambia Premier League and TopStar Communications Company Limited, each party has obligations and the production rights solely rest on ZPL who are obligated to sub-contract production houses to produce the matches which TopStar distributes on its platform,” the statement read.
The company further disclosed that it has not received any feed for distribution since November 2025.
“TopStar has not received any feed for distribution on its platform from the ZPL contracted production houses since November 2025 to date, hence there being no broadcast of the games,” it said.
TopStar added that while it agrees with sentiments from Keith Mweemba that contractual obligations must be honoured, it has also raised concerns over ZPL’s performance of its agreement.
“It is worth noting that TopStar has also raised serious concerns regarding the performance of the agreement by ZPL, which concerns are still being discussed by both parties,” the company stated.
The broadcaster maintained that it has the full capacity to air the MTN Super League and expressed hope that ongoing talks will lead to an early resumption of coverage.
