U20 Women Off To Burundi for FIFA World Cup Qualifier

The Zambia Under-20 Women National Team has left for Bujumbura ahead of Friday’s second round 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Burundi.

Coach Charity Nthala has travelled with a 21-member squad for this assignment with the team leaving aboard Ethiopian Airlines at 02h00 on Tuesday.

Zambia is chasing its debut FIFA World Cup appearance with the U20 women expected to draw inspiration from the Copper Queens and U17 squads that have appeared at the world’s biggest showpiece.

The return leg will be held in Ndola on September 27, with the winner over two legs advancing to the third round.

The FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers consist of four rounds, with the third-round victors advancing to a final clash against the overall winner of the (Togo vs Tunisia x Ghana vs Eswatini/South Africa) fixtures for a coveted spot at the global extravaganza.
