Zambia Drawn with Nigeria, Egypt and Malawi at 2026 WAFCON

Zambia have been handed a challenging draw at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after being placed in Group C alongside defending champions and record 10 times winners Nigeria, Egypt and debutants Malawi.

The continental showpiece will run from 17 March to 3 April 2026, with Africa’s top women’s national teams competing for the title.

The Copper Queens will be keen to settle scores with Nigeria, who knocked them out at the quarterfinal stage of the previous tournament. Egypt bring vast experience to the group, while Malawi will be making their first-ever appearance at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Group A features hosts Morocco alongside Algeria, Senegal and Kenya, setting up a competitive pool that pits North and East African sides against each other, with Senegal expected to provide strong opposition.

In Group B, South Africa headline the group and will face Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Tanzania, with the former African champions tipped as favourites to progress.

Group D sees Ghana drawn with Cameroon, Mali and Cape Verde, a group that promises intense competition given the pedigree and physical style of play among the teams.

With several heavyweight clashes across all four groups, the 2026 WAFCON is shaping up to be one of the most competitive editions in the tournament’s history.
